The path
to success is often quite different from the bee line that we are inclined to chart.
The way that life unfolds
can be filled with funny twists and turns, and things that seem backwards and upside
down.
Based the wisdom of the ancient Chinese, The Way of Respect is a quiet, inspiring work that guides us along the "way" of naviaging these challenges; a way
that takes courage and vision to follow.
Tao te Ching, or way of life, was written in
China
2500 years ago. It is a short
and powerful philosophy on leadership and relationships. Sadly, by the time its
ancient language is rendered into English by scholars, it can be quite difficult
to read. The Way of Respect brings the Tao into modern language, preserving the
wisdom and the wonderful expression in paradox and contradiction. Wonderful? Paradox?
Contradiction? Indeed, life is puzzling sometimes. It seems that the only way to
advance is to yield. The way to be heard is to listen.
The Way of Respect presents this "way" with a focus on
respect. Approaching others with respect in all interactions puts on this path toward
success.
Composed of 81 short "poems", each
fitting on a page, just as the Tao te Ching, the Way of Respect keeps the basic
ideas of each poem, while expressing them in modern language that is easy to read.
Not always easy to grasp! Some of the teachings are simple, but others take some
reflection to assimilate.
The Way of Respect offers inspiration and guidance for
all our relationships: family, work, community; and also for achieving our life
goals.
